That’s right! In a secret Coup d’état, our team managed to tweak the codebase so that the Tactics PvP ranking system can be fully re-used for Blitz! This means, effective immediately, players can now track their ranking on our brand new Blitz Leaderboard!
Important notice: The month of August will be used to fix any issues we have with matchmaking/player ranks/display issues/etc. The leaderboard will reset monthly for the time being. But we are currently scoping out designs for an all-time and weekly leaderboard. There are no rewards currently tied to your rank. This is intentional while we fix any remaining issues that could result in cheating/abuse of the system.
How is my ranking calculated?
Simply put, we use a formula derived from the Elo Rating system. It is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in zero-sum games, such as chess and you guessed it, Blitz!
What can I expect once this is live?
After your first game of Blitz, you will get an initial rating, which will determine your rank. The rating you receive is determined by a few variables, but the main one is the rank of your opponent. The higher their rank, the higher your rating will be. The Elo rank will help match players with similar ranks together, to make Blitz battles as fair as possible.
How do I increase my rating?
Players increase their rating when winning PvP matches in Blitz.
Can I lose rating?
Yes. Players lose rating when losing PvP matches in Blitz. Note: Quitting before a match ends will result in a loss, and a decrease in rating.
The leaderboard is the start of integrating more competitive features in Seekers of Tokane, in order to eventually offer a wide range of tools available for the community to organize their own events and tournaments.
